ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The 4th-grade students created a business to buy a Nintendo. The first challenge for fourth graders was what business would help them earn money. They brainstormed ideas of what to sell to obtain profit. The students decided to sell lemonade.

They went through the steps of the scientific method. The first step was to analyze the economic aspect of selling homemade lemonade. Many questions were raised. How many lemons do they need to make a lemon pitch? Which other ingredients are needed? How to calculate the costs of the ingredients? How to determine the sales price to obtain a profit? Where and when they were going to sell the lemonade? The method was to synergize through teamwork and with the guidance of their teacher the students solved all their questions. They solicited permission to sell lemonade during recess time.

They sold lemonade and earned part of the money needed to buy a Nintendo. The students were very enthusiastic after the success of their first entrepreneurship project and were willing to start the whole process again to continue to raise money. The students learned a lot about business and were eager to continue to develop projects.
